Relaxed/Sensory Performance - Matinee, 9th March at 2pm

A relaxed/sensory friendly performance is for everyone, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment which can be enjoyed by all. During this performance, there will be a laid-back approach to noise and movement coming from the audience, permitting and encouraging everyone to relax and be completely themselves while enjoying ‘Legally Blonde’.

The show’s lighting and sound will be adjusted to reduce sensory stimuli and the lights in the auditorium will be kept on at a low level throughout the performance to create a comfortable, safe and welcoming environment.

There will also be a ‘chill-out’ area where people can go if they find they need some quiet time away from the auditorium.

Castlebar has a long tradition of music and drama and on a sunny summer’s evening, in July 2014, a group of eager individuals, led by Alanna Ní Mhíocháin, met at The Royal Theatre Hotel.  Their goal was to create a society that would enhance the sense of community among the people of Castlebar & its surrounding areas. They wanted to create a society that would provide an open and inclusive network for people who shared a love of all things musical & dramatic. After much deliberation, debate & many cups of tea, a constitution was created and on the 15th July 2014 Castlebar Musical & Dramatic Society was born.
